Correction: Virginia State Police originally released that the crash was on I-64 in Chesapeake. It has been corrected to reflect that the incident was on I-264 in Portsmouth.
PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A 32-year-old man died in a single-car crash on Interstate 264 at Greenwood Drive Thursday evening, Virginia State Police said.

A release from state police said Justin D. Viera, of Chesapeake, was driving in a 2013 Infinity M37X at a high-rate of speed while driving eastbound on I-264 when he lost control of his car, drove off the road, and struck a guardrail, which caused his car to go airborne, flipping several times. State police said Viera, who they said was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car, which came to rest of top of him and pinned him underneath.
Viera suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he died.
State Police said speed and not wearing a seat belt were contributing factors in the crash, and they said notification has been made to his next-of-kin.
