VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A 79-year-old was found, after being reported missing, while attempting to enter a military base in North Carolina.
The Virginia State Police had issued a critically missing adult alert on Jan. 19 for Benjamin Tellez in Virginia Beach. He was found later in the day around Cherry Point after attempting to enter a military base around 5:20 p.m.

Tellez had been previously last seen on Jan. 18, 2024 around 3 p.m., leaving his house on Slalom Drive in Virginia Beach, police said. He was last seen wearing black sweat pants and a black shirt. He is about 5’7″, 215 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.

He was possibly driving a green 2012 Toyota Camry with plates: WMR4552. The car was last seen on a flock camera on Armory Drive in Franklin around 8 a.m.
Police said Tellez’s disappearance posed a credible threat to his health and safety. Arrangements are being made with family to get him home safely.
