VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Thousands of runners took to the Virginia Beach Boardwalk over the weekend for the 54th Annual Yuengling Shamrock Marathon.
On Saturday and Sunday, people ran the Leprechaun Dash, 8k, half marathon and full marathon. Runners from all ages participated despite the windy conditions.
10 On Your Side spoke with people who participated in the half marathon, who said they had a blast.
”Felt good, then I had a Yuengling… now I feel great,” said Nick Denton.
Another man, visiting from New Jersey, said he was enjoying the energy of the Virginia Beach event.
”The half marathon was great, great energy, the way the course was great. It was all well orchestrated,” Michael Wepler said.
Companies partnering with the event included organizations like Operation Smile, Bon Secours, Dominion Energy and many more.
Marathon winner Jerry Greenlaw completed the race in just 2 hours and 27 minutes.
