VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The City of Virginia Beach has revealed plans to improve the Rudee Inlet area at the Oceanfront.
In February of 2025, the city released three design concepts for Rudee Park to get community feedback. Residents were encouraged to complete a survey by March 30 to provide community input on the designs, which can be found below:

As a result of the survey, the design team for Rudee Park developed a fourth design, which combined popular elements from the three previous designs. Some elements from the new master design include:
- Immersive natural trails/ paths
- Inlet steps down to the water
- A shared-use pedestrian and cycling path woven through the park
- Nature-based play areas
The master plan, which can be seen below, was presented to Virginia Beach City Councilmembers on May 20.
Councilmembers are expected to provide further feedback on the design.
