VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach Police took a person into custody Monday afternoon after a barricade situation on Pleasant Valley Road.

37-year-old Ronald A. Villegas was charged with two counts of brandishing a firearm and one count of assault on law enforcement.

In a tweet just after noon Monday, Virginia Beach police asked residents and motorists to avoid the area near the 4000 block of Pleasant Valley Road due to a barricade situation.

According to police dispatch, the call for the incident came in just before 10:30 a.m. There was a heavy police presence in the area.

Police said Special Operations SWAT assumed command of the incident just before 1 p.m.

Around 3:40 p.m., police tweeted that they had taken Villegas into custody.
