VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A barricade situation involving an armed individual in Virginia Beach ended Friday evening after police say they found the person barricaded with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital, VBPD confirmed to WAVY.

Police said they were called out to the 300 block of Paxford Drive at approximately 6:15 p.m.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., police followed up and shared the incident was no longer considered an active barricade.

VBPD said there was not a threat to the community during the incident.
