VBPD: Man arrested after multiple swatting calls made to Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A man was arrested recently after multiple swatting calls were made in Virginia Beach.

Jalen Chesson faces three charges in Virginia Beach for falsely summoning law enforcement in a case of a man harassing his ex girlfriend, and, according to court documents, “swatting” her with made-up emergencies.

The criminal complaint from police talk about three calls to dispatch across three separate days:

Officers find out her ex-boyfriend, Chesson, is the one making these calls. She told police Chesson has been harassing her since she broke up with him and broke all contact. The woman said he has assaulted her in the past.

Also in court, there was a report from someone else with the same last name as the victim, saying Chesson sent him death threats. Police said “swatting” diverts critical safety resources putting first responders and others in danger.

Chesson also faces an abduction charge out of Portsmouth, along with multiple assault charges out of Virginia Beach.
