VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – The Virginia Beach Police Department is currently investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred Saturday night.
Officers say the accident happened around 10:15 p.m. on the 1100 block of Dam Neck Rd. Police investigation revealed the pedestrian failed to yield for traffic who had the right of way.
The driver of the vehicle involved stayed on scene and cooperated with officials, according to police. No charges have been filed at this time.
“We continue to see fatal and injury crashes where pedestrians failing to obey basic traffic laws are a contributing factor. This trend is concerning and avoidable,” said VBPD Chief Paul Neudigate. “We urge everyone, both drivers and pedestrians to remain alert, follow traffic laws, and prioritize safety. Our goal is to prevent these tragedies, but it requires accountability from everyone on the road.”
