VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Seven adults and one child have been displaced after a house fire in Virginia Beach on Wednesday morning.
Crews with the Virginia Beach Fire Department were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 3000 block of Bray Road at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke from a two-story residential structure. Crews had the fire controlled around 10:50 a.m. and officially marked out at approximately 11:10 a.m. The fire originated from a fireplace in the basement and was determined to be accidental.
The Red Cross was contacted to provide temporary housing to the affected residents.
There were no injuries reported to civilians, firefighters or pets.
