VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Sentara Health and Virginia Wesleyan University announced Wednesday that they have both signed initial agreements to transition Sentara College into a professional college under VWU starting Jan. 1, 2026.

The college, under VWU’s academic structure, will house all existing degree and certificate programs while opening new pathways for students.

“Our shared vision is to prepare the healthcare workforce of the future while honoring Sentara College’s deep community ties and proud academic legacy,” said Dr. Angela Taylor, president, Sentara College of Health Sciences.

“We look forward to working closely with Virginia Wesleyan University to create new opportunities for students, expand access to in-demand programs, and continue meeting the growing healthcare workforce needs of our communities.”

All students currently in the program through summer of 2026 will complete their programs under the the Sentara College of Health Sciences name.

The name will transition to Sentara College of Health Sciences of Virginia Wesleyan University starting fall 2026.
