VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Publix celebrated the grand opening of its first Virginia Beach store Thursday morning.

The 49,000-square-foot grocery store located at 2200 General Booth Boulevard is the third location in Hampton Roads, with one in Suffolk and another in Williamsburg.

Managed by Greg Switzer, the store employs about 140 workers.

There are more scheduled to be built locally, including in Isle of Wight County and Chesapeake.

The store is open seven days per week, from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m.
