VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Virginia Beach on Monday evening that injured both him and another man.
On April 14, Virginia Beach police responded to the 4100 block of Sassafras Court in reference to a report of shots fired around 8:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, they located two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both were taken to local hospitals.
VBPD Violent Crimes Unit detectives identified one of the victims, 18-year-old Josiah Spann, as the suspect. He has been charged with armed robbery, aggravated malicious wounding, shooting in the commission of a felony, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
Spann was injured during the commission of his felony crimes by gunfire from the victim.
A neighbor who knew one of the men shot spoke with 10 On Your Side’s Andy Fox about the incident.
“Talking to the mother last night, I asked what happened, she said, ‘my son got shot,'” the neighbor said. “He got shot in the leg and the back, got shot twice. He was going to the dumpster. I got out here, I couldn’t even get in because everything was blocked off. He is a young man, doesn’t bother anyone. He minds his own business. He works at the Food Lion, goes to work, he’s a good kid. He takes care of his mother because his mother’s disability.”
