VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — An Emporia man has been arrested in connection to a recent shooting at the Oceanfront that injured six bystanders.
Ladarius Malik Trisvan, 21, has been charged with six counts of malicious wounding and six counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, according to Linda Kuehn with the Virginia Beach Police Department.
Police say the shooting started after Fourth of July festivities on Atlantic Avenue, near 18th and 19th streets. Officers found the first person shot around 12:30 a.m. July 5.
Five more people were found shot nearby at 20th Street and Pacific Avenue. All six people were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Two other people were shot that evening in Virginia Beach, but police haven’t connected the incidents. Police believe the Oceanfront shootings were random and not targeted. Witnesses told 10 On Your Side some of the victims were shot in the legs.
Police say they’ll release more information about what led to Trisvan’s arrest shortly.
