VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The popular Jackalope Festival is returning to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront in May.

The worldwide festival is making its way to the oceanfront May 30 through June 1, where it will then go to Mississauga, Ontario July 11-13 and Montréal, Québec Sept. 12-14. Plans for an Australia stop are also underway, according to a release.

The festival is set to include street skateboarding, vert skateboarding, bouldering and base jumping. Founded by TRIBU in 2012 in Montréal, Jackalope made its way to Virginia Beach in 2023 with special guest Tony Hawk.

“Jackalope is much more than an event. It’s a vibrant and inclusive platform that builds bridges between young people, destinations, and brands,” Micah Desforges, founder and CEO or TRIBU said. “Jackalope’s mission is to shine a light on action sports by creating opportunities for communities around the world to come together, celebrate their passion and reach the next level. By combatting inactivity, encouraging self-expression and revealing hidden talents, Jackalope creates tangible opportunities for the younger generation and stimulates youth culture through sport and shared experiences.”

This year, Jackalope announced the addition of the “Golden Ticket Contest,” which aims to elevate underrated skaters with a fully covered trip to compete in either the vert or street contests. A total of eight people will receive a golden ticket, four of which will be chosen by Mike Boisvert.

Individuals interested in the Golden Ticket Contest will have until April 28 to enter a submission.
