VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A motorcyclist died Saturday afternoon after a crash on Oceana Boulevard in Virginia Beach.
Police said Virginia Beach Emergency Communications received reports of a motorcycle crash at the observation point on Oceana Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. Saturday. It happened in the 600 block.
Police and multiple fire-rescue units responded to the crash.
The initial investigation revealed that a motorcyclist was traveling northbound and approaching the 90-degree bend by the observation point when they attempted to cut between other vehicles on the road.
The motorcyclist sideswiped a pickup truck, lost control of the bike and was ejected.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police on Monday identified the man as 61-year-old Ralph Keith Caesar of Virginia Beach.
Drivers were diverted down Bells Road to Birdneck Road during the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation.
