VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The driver of a moped died in a crash Sunday night in Virginia Beach.
Dispatchers received a call reporting the crash just before 9 p.m. Sunday in the 3300 block of Holland Road at the intersection of Lynnhaven Parkway.
The driver, 46-year-old Virginia Beach resident Michael Lavon Baskerville, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say he was heading north on Lynnhaven Parkway when he struck a median and a street sign.
The crash is still under investigation but alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor, police say.
