VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Coastal Cafe is closing its doors permanently after a fight at the location caused a man’s death.
On Saturday, March 1, Virginia Beach police responded to the bar for a fight in progress around 8:45 p.m. on Princess Anne Road. A 51-year-old man was found unresponsive and later died at the hospital.
The owner of Coastal Cafe posted on Facebook that the business will permanently close following the devasting events. Barrie Engel expressed sorrow for the loss saying the incident was “heartbreaking.”
Engel said the business’ doors are closed effective immediately and thanked the workers and customers who have supported the business for 17 years.
