VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — An 18-year-old man will spend 50 years behind bars after robbing and killing a teen during a fake marijuana deal in 2024.

According to officials, on Jan. 28, 2024, 18-year-old Alex Edwards, Jr. and his friend, 17-year-old Ariyon Allen, planned a fake marijuana transaction via Telegram with Logan Fuehrer in the 700 block of Trellis Way. The transaction, however, was later switched to the 700 block of Baker Road.

During the transaction, Allen conducted several fake transactions through Cash App for $90, all of which were never completed. Fuehrer was said to have a handgun in his lap during the transaction.

While Allen was pretending to make payments to Fuehrer, Edwards shot Fuehrer twice, ultimately killing him. The pair then stole Feuhrer’s handgun.

Shortly after this, a search warrant confirmed that Edwards and Allen communicated with the victim on Telegram prior to the meeting. A separate search warrant of Edward’s residence also lead to the discovery of Feuhrer’s handgun. Police said several messages indicated the pair were attempting to sell the stolen firearm.

On Dec. 12, 2024, Edward pled guilty to first-degree murder, robbery, causing death, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and conspiracy. As a result, Circuit Court Judge Sal Iaquinto sentenced Edwards to 148 years in prison with 98 years suspended, leaving an active sentence of 50 years to serve.

Allen pled guilty to second-degree murder, robbery causing death and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is set to be sentenced on July 2, 2025.
