SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Six people have been arrested as part of a long-term gang-related drug conspiracy investigation, Suffolk Police said Thursday.
The investigation involved Suffolk Police, the Suffolk SWAT team, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Virginia State Police, and the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office, who combined to execute seven search warrants — six in Suffolk and one in Isle of Wight County.
Suffolk Police seized three guns, one of which was a sawed-off shotgun, as well as about $10,000 in cash as a result of the investigation.
The following were arrested on various narcotics distribution charges, firearms-related offenses and marijuana distribution charges:
- Lakeith Arrington, 32, of Suffolk
- Dashaun Kelly, 31, of Suffolk
- Traven Jackson, 32, of Suffolk
- Gary Eley, 29, of Suffolk
- Christopher Walkup Jr., 36, of Windsor
Another person, Sherrie Cobb, 38, of Suffolk, was arrested on outstanding warrants not related to this investigation.
Police said more charges are forthcoming.
Suffolk Police thanked its Uniformed Patrol Division and Criminal Investigations Division, along with other community partners and participating agencies for their help in the investigation and the execution of the search warrants.
Police said the long-term drug conspiracy investigation is still ongoing.
