White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that President Donald Trump “continues to have confidence” in his national security team, after additional text messages from the Signal group chat detailing the Yemen strike were released today.
“What I can say definitively, is what I just spoke to the president about, and he continues to have confidence in his national security team,” Leavitt told reporters in the White House briefing room.
Leavitt’s comment was in response to a reporter’s question on whether anyone would be fired over the scandal.
Pressed by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins if Trump felt misled by national security advisers or whoever told him no classified information was in the chat, Leavitt said, “I’ve given you my answer. The president feels the same today as he did yesterday.”
