NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Samaritan House is hosting their annual “Paint 757 Purple” fundraising event to raise awareness about the impact of domestic violence.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. Organizations like Samaritan House work around the year to raise awareness. For “Paint 757 Purple”, they are asking businesses to donate a percentage of their sales on Oct. 16 – to align with national “Wear Purple Day” – to support victims of domestic violence.

In turn, Samaritan House said it will provide hosts to help generate additional customers for business owners by promoting the business on social media.

According to Samaritan House, nearly 40 businesses helped raise more than $50,000 to help victims of domestic violence.
