PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A 17-year-old girl is dead after police say she was found with a gunshot wound Saturday night.
Portsmouth Police say they were notified around 9:20 p.m. that a person had been shot in the 3300 block of High Street.
When they arrived to Evergreen Memorial Park, they found the girl with a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Neighbors tell 10 On Your Side’s Aesia Toliver police were investigating an area of the cemetery late Saturday night.
“We saw them flying down the street, we thought it was a fire or something so we came down here and they were taping it off and we saw the body over here in the middle of the field,” one neighbor explained.
Police say the girl was not shot at the cemetery, but that her body was dumped there.
