PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth police responded to a hit-and-run Friday shortly after 10 p.m. in the 1900 block of High Street. 

Emergency Communications received a 911 call requesting police and medical assistance for a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle at the intersection of High Street and Jamestown Avenue. Police arrived on scene and located a man suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to the hospital. 

Investigators with the Portsmouth Police Department Strategic Traffic Unit are requesting the public’s help in locating the suspect’s vehicle which is possibly a 2013-2016 medium blue metallic-colored Nissan Altima. Investigators say the vehicle will have apparent damage to the driver’s side bumper with noticeable damage to the driver’s side view mirror, whose plastic cover is missing.

Investigators believe the vehicle was headed eastbound on High Street and continued to travel eastbound when it fled the scene. 

No additional information is available and the investigation into this accident is still ongoing.
