PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — One person was taken to the hospital after a house fire in Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon.
Fire crews were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 4600 block of Deep Creek Boulevard at approximately 3:30 p.m., according to a release from Portsmouth Fire Rescue and Emergency Services.
Upon arrival, crews found a fire in the kitchen of the residence. They initiated an aggressive interior attack, and the fire was quickly extinguished without spreading to other structures.
No firefighters were injured, but one occupant was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
The fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
