PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Police responded to a crash at the intersection of Greenwood Drive and Deep Creek Blvd., just west of the Cradock area.

Police say a stolen vehicle crashed after a police chase.

Portsmouth Police Sgt. Misty Holley said an officer attempted to stop a vehicle near the area of George Washington Highway and Victory Boulevard after finding it was stolen from the City of Chesapeake.

The driver of the vehicle refused to yield to the officer, Holley said.

A pursuit ensued, but then the officer terminated the chase because of reckless actions by the driver, Holley said.

A few moments after the pursuit was terminated, the vehicle was involved in a crash with two other vehicles at the intersection of Greenwood Drive and Deep Creek Boulevard.

Officers in the area saw the crash and were able to take all three people inside the stolen vehicle into custody.

Two others were injured in the crash. One was transported to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

The other person was seen by medics and refused treatment.

The investigation is ongoing and no additional information in available, Holley said.
