PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — One man is dead after a shooting Monday night on Calvin Street, police said.
According to police, officers were called to the 10 block of Calvin Street at 11:23 p.m. for the report of a shooting.
Officers arrived to the scene and found an unresponsive man in a crashed vehicle. The man, later identified as 36-year-old Brent Andre Hargraves, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Community activist Bilal Muhammad said Hargraves was his nephew.
“Our nephew Brent had no idea that this was going to come about to him last night,” Muhammad said. “A wonderful young man, a wonderful young man.”
The investigation is ongoing.
