PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Fire investigators believe a fire that broke out at a vacant home in Portsmouth late Tuesday morning may have been set on purpose.
Firefighters were called to the 100 block of Carol Lane around 11 a.m. The fire was brought under control in less than 30 minutes.
Neighbors tells 10 On Your Side no one currently lives in the home, and that it belonged to a woman who has passed away.
Portsmouth Fire officials determined the fire stemmed from a pile of debris on the front porch. The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire as suspicious.
There were no injuries reported.
