PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A non-profit organization is teaming up with Chartway Promise Foundation to give children in need backpacks for the upcoming school year.
Complete The Puzzle, an Autism Resource Center in Portsmouth, is hosting its 7th Annual backpack drive on Saturday Aug. 9, 2025 at Portsmouth City Park from noon to 3 p.m.
This event will include backpack giveaways, free school supplies, food, vendors and a sensory friendly DJ.
This year will also feature a Touch a Truck sensory station and more activities that excite the senses. The sensory time will be held from 11 a.m. to noon.
In order to participate and receive free school supplies, parents must accompany children at all times.
