New man considered person of interest in November homicide of Portsmouth woman

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth police say 22-year-old Raekwon M. Barksdale is now considered a person of interest in the fatal shooting of Lakisha Smith the day before Thanksgiving in Portsmouth.

Police shared the update on Dec. 21. Another man, Larry A. Leary III, and a 19-year-old are no longer considered persons of interest in the case at this time.

Police did not share additional information in the updated release on Dec. 21. Smith was killed the night before Thanksgiving and police found her body at Rodgers Place, near the convergence of George Washington Highway and Victory Blvd.
