Wasserhund Brewing Company announces new Norfolk location

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Wasserhund Brewing Company is planning to open a new location — in Norfolk.

The company made the announcement on social media that the new location will be in the building on Granby St. that formerly housed District APizza.

“We’re bringing our signature brews, artisan eats, and a retro arcade twist to the Railroad District. Norfolk, get ready to fetch yourself a good time — this one’s gonna be WILD,” the post read, in part.

The location is expected to open in the fall, but there is no official grand opening date yet. Wasserhund teased that they have some surprises brewing.

This will be Wasserhund’s third location in Hampton Roads. They are currently in Virginia Beach at 1805 Laskin Road and in Chesapeake at 510 Belaire Ave.

The brewery’s Conditional Use Permit (CUP) is on the agenda for the Norfolk City Planning Commission public hearing this Thursday. According to the CUP, Wasserhund plans to request a restaurant with live entertainment, along with the sale of alcoholic beverages and production of craft beverages at the new location.

Wasserhund means “water dog” in German. According to the company’s website, owners Aaron and Christine have a love for German beer and decided to open a brewery in their hometown of Virginia Beach. That was back in August 2015.
