NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY)– Crews in Norfolk responded to a fire in the Norview area of the city late last night.
According to officials, crews were dispatched to the Norview Heights & Nursing Center located in the 800 block of Norview Ave just before midnight for the report of a commercial fire. It was reported that the fire was in a bathroom.
When units arrived, they found a bathroom vent that appeared to have been on fire. The fire was out before crews arrived.
Staff evacuated affected and nearby rooms. Crews assisted with sheltering others in place. Ventilation was performed to clear out the smoke conditions in affected rooms and hallways.
Two people were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Fire officials did not specify why they were taken to the hospital.
This incident is being investigated by the Norfolk Fire Marshal.
