NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk was placed under a lockdown on Thursday due to a “suspicious situation,” police said.
According to officials, around 10:40 a.m., officers were dispatched to Lake Taylor High School for reports of a possible active shooter. While officers investigated the report, the school was put under a lockdown.
Police said there was no active shooter, and they were unable to recover a weapon. No injuries were reported.
The previous day, on Jan. 8, police responded to the same school around 10:40 a.m. for reports of a fight.
A knife was recovered from a student once officers arrived. After an investigation, officers arrested a 15-year-old female student, who was then charged with possessing a weapon on school property.
The student is currently being held in the Norfolk Detention Center.

On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, Lake Taylor High School’s administration promptly contacted law enforcement in response to an on-campus incident. Upon arrival, the Norfolk Police Department recovered a knife from a student who was not involved in the reported physical altercation. The student was subsequently removed from the school by law enforcement for possessing a weapon on school property. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff remains our top priority, and we will continue to collaborate closely with law enforcement to uphold a secure and supportive learning environment.
