NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A 31-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting on Chesapeake Boulevard in September that injured another man.

On Sept. 28, officers responded around 2:05 a.m. to a report of a gunshot victim in the 7900 block of Chesapeake Boulevard. Upon arrival, they found a 42-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening. He was taken to a local hospital to receive medical treatment.

Following an investigation, detectives charged 31-year-old Nakia L. Evans with malicious wounding, use of a firearm, possessing a firearm by felon, carrying concealed, prohibited conduct with a concealed weapon and two counts of assault.

Evans was taken into custody in the City of Chesapeake on Oct. 23 around 1:25 p.m. He remains in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
