NPD: Man dies from injuries after Granby St. crash

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man has died after a crash at the intersection of Granby Street and Beverly Avenue Friday morning, police said.

The driver, Mario A. Jones, 26, of Norfolk, crashed in the 6200 block of Granby Street around 7:15 a.m., Norfolk Police said. When officers got to the scene, they found a car had hit the curb and left the road. The driver was ejected from the vehicle, police said.


Jones, suffering from life-threatening injuries at the time of the crash, was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The northbound lanes of Granby Street were closed while crews worked to clear the scene. The road has since reopened.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
