NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man was seriously injured after an assault Monday night at a Norfolk Harris Teeter.

According to officials, around 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Harris Teeter on West Ocean View Avenue for reports of an assault.

Upon arrival to the scene, officers found a 53-year-old man suffering from a serious injury. The victim was then transferred to a local hospital for treatment.

Photos from the scene show multiple police vehicles and police tape blocking the area.

Following an investigation, 30-year-old Kharel F. White-Jones was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. Jones is currently being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond.
