NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk adults have the second highest percentage in the U.S. for getting less than seven hours of sleep per night, according to a study done by SmartAsset.

This lack of sleep could be correlated with long-term health issues, according to the The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC. On average, around 33.8% of people in United States’ largest cities don’t get enough sleep, which is quantified as being less than seven hours.

The CDC also tied lack of sleep to the potential for a higher risk of dangerous accidents.

To determine cities where residents are getting the most and least sleep, SmartAsset ranked 100 of the largest U.S. cities.
