NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Police say charges are pending following a crash at the intersection of Warwick Blvd. and Sharon Dr. Sunday night.

The crash occurred just before 9 p.m. on Oct. 26 and involved two vehicles.

According to Newport News Police, a driver ran a red light while traveling northbound on Warwick Boulevard and collided with a vehicle turning left onto southbound Warwick Blvd. at Campbell Dr.

Police said the driver who ran the light left the scene but was detained a short distance away. Charges are now pending against him.

Both drivers were taken to area hospitals for treatment, but are expected to recover from their injuries. Their vehicles sustained heavy damage, and a utility pole was also damaged in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
