NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A homicide investigation is underway after a 28-year-old woman was found dead in April inside a residence in Newport News, according to police.

On April 30, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Antrim Drive around 8:55 p.m. in reference to an unresponsive person.

Upon arrival, they located a woman, identified as 28-year-old Imani Parrish, not breathing. She was pronounced deceased by medics at the scene.

The Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner told 10 On Your Side Parrish’s cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide due to the “suspicious nature” of Parrish’s injuries.
