NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A man was injured, and several cars were damaged following a shooting in Newport News on Wednesday night.
The Newport News Police Department responded to reports of gunshots heard in the area of Bellwood Road and Tyler Avenue at approximately 9:50 p.m. Shortly afterwards, a call was received stating that a wounded man walked into a hospital in Hampton.
A preliminary investigation determined that the victim appeared to have been shot in the area of Bellwood Road.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Several vehicles were damaged by gunfire in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
