YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — A man faces two charges of felony homicide in addition to other charges in connection to an April 3 Water Street crash that killed two people, including a pregnant woman.

Hunter Nelson Arnold, 22, of Smithfield, in addition to the felony homicide charges, has also been charged with one count of DUI felony maiming, felony DUI-third or subsequent with elevated blood alcohol level (less than five years), reckless failure to maintain control and reckless driving-speeding.
Arnold is currently being held in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
The two-vehicle crash killed James Leslie Steward, 21, of Windsor and Abigail Pedroza Navarro, 34, of Williamsburg, who was pregnant at the time of the crash.
The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said the investigation continues into the crash.
According to officials, around 8:15 p.m., deputies were sent to Water Street in Yorktown, between Daniel’s Drive and the Colonial Parkway entrance, for reports of a two-vehicle crash. Witnesses said the vehicle driven by Arnold, a 2016 Dodge Challenger, was traveling at a high rate of speed when it swerved out of control and struck a 2015 Honda Fit.
Steward was a passenger in the Challenger, while Navarro was a passenger in the Honda Fit.
A 28-year-old woman who was driving the Honda Fit was also injured but has since been released from the hospital, and Arnold suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Riverside Hospital.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking incident,” the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said.
