RICHMOND, Va. (WAVY) – Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears officially secured her Republican nomination for Governor of Virginia Tuesday evening.

Earle-Sears, who became the Commonwealth’s first female and Black Republican nominee for governor, ran unopposed.

“I am forever grateful to my friends, family, and supporters who have encouraged me on this historic journey,” said Earle-Sears, “I have been a leader for the people, and I will continue that work as Governor. We must enshrine common sense in the Commonwealth, and I will put all Virginians first.”

“If you want to keep Virginia on track, the choice could not be more clear. I look forward to making my case to Virginians across the Commonwealth over the next four months.”
