NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s — oh, it’s actually a new airline coming to Norfolk International Airport.

New travel options are coming to Norfolk after JetBlue announced added flight destinations for travelers — and Norfolk International Airport made the cut. The flight from the Boston Logan International Airport to Norfolk launches on April 30.

During the summer season, JetBlue will offer one daily flight from Boston to Norfolk.

“Norfolk is a city of contrasts, where a proud maritime tradition meets modern waterfront living,” a release states. “Explore the Norfolk Botanical Garden’s serene beauty, uncover art treasures at the Chrysler Museum, or experience the buzz of the Waterside District. This gateway to Chesapeake Bay boasts lively festivals, captivating naval history, and a warm, welcoming spirit, ensuring visitors are charmed at every turn.”

This comes at the heels of Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner announcing on Jan. 13 that more than $9.5 million of federal funding is going to Norfolk Airport Authority. The funding is expected to be used to install three new passenger boarding bridges to accommodate more aircraft operations, expand Terminal Concourse A by 25,000 square feet and three gates, reconstruct 50,000 square feet of existing Terminal Concourse A, create new restrooms, etc.
