Jazz legend Herbie Hancock coming to Chrysler Hall in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Get ready to “Rockit” this September at Chrysler Hall.

Jazz legend Herbie Hancock is coming to town to kick off the Virginia Arts Festival’s fall season. The show will be on Sunday, September 22 and tickets go on sale Friday, April 5 at 10 a.m.


At 83, Hancock’s still actively touring and wowing crowds, with the Washington Post asking just last year: “Is Herbie Hancock our greatest living jazz artist?”

“Winner of 14 Grammy Awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award, an Academy Award for Best Original Score, the Kennedy Center Honors, and many more awards and accolades, Hancock is one of the most heralded artists performing today,” the Virginia Arts Festival wrote.

You can buy tickets for the show online at vafest.org, by phone at 757-282-2822 or at the festival’s box office at 440 Bank Street in Norfolk (Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Other upcoming events for the Virginia Arts Festival include the Dance Theatre of Harlem (May 3-5 at Chrysler Hall), the Beach Boys (June 21 in Williamsburg), Tower of Power (June 22 in Williamsburg) and Laufey, the 2024 Grammy winner for Traditional Pop Vocal Album (June 23 in Williamsburg).
