JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — On Friday, Busch Gardens announced they will be closing one of its oldest remaining rides — The Flying Machine.
The spinning attraction had been at the amusement park since 1980, five years after the park officially opened. It was introduced during the park’s Italy expansion.
The ride was a part of the park’s Da Vinci’s Garden of Inventions, which also includes Da Vinci’s Cradle.
While a piece of the park’s history is being retired, the park is paying homage to the past for its 50th anniversary with The Big Bad Wolf: The Wolf’s Revenge. The roller coaster is expected to be completed by the spring of 2025.
