HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Peninsula Town Center has lost a popular restaurant. The Hampton location of Bar Louie is permanently closed.
The location at 3530 Von Schilling Drive is no longer listed on the restaurant’s website. It also shows up as closed in a Google search. Three Virginia locations remain, in Ashburn, Woodbridge and Gainesville.
Community members took to social media to express their disappointment in the closure of the Hampton Roads location.
Bar Louis is a gastrobar chain headquartered in Addison, Texas. It was founded in 1991.
In a press release last month, Bar Louie stated it voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
The press release mentions that before filing for bankruptcy, Bar Louie closed some of its underperforming locations.
A sign posted at the Hampton location states, “Due to Unforeseen Circumstances, Bar Louie will be Closed Today. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
A WAVY viewer shared photos of the sign, and of a moving truck outside the location on April 29.

There’s no word yet what will end up in the restaurant’s place in Peninsula Town Center.
