HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A person was apprehended after they drove a car through the fence at Joint Base Langley-Eustis Thursday morning.
Shortly before 8 a.m., a Hampton Police officer observed a vehicle traveling north on North Armistead Avenue make an abrupt right turn near Tidewater Drive, according to Cpl. Shaun Stalnaker. As the driver mowed through the fence and towards the West end of Langley’s long runway, the officer followed in pursuit.
The officer was able to bring the vehicle to a stop shortly thereafter, Stalnaker said.
JBLE security forces assisted in apprehending the driver who breached the base, a release from the Air Force said.
There was no indication of a threat to national security and no injuries were reported.

The investigation into this incident is being led by the Office of Special Investigations.
No charges have been announced.
