HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – An Amazon worker suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot while sitting inside his car overnight Sunday, according to Hampton Police.

Officers say the incident happened at 12:18 a.m. in the 2000 block of Enterprise Parkway, near an Amazon warehouse. HPD says the victim was sitting in his car when the suspect shot multiple rounds and then fled the scene in a vehicle.

The incident is considered to be an isolated event and the victim was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

WAVY 10 reached out to Amazon who provided a statement regarding the incident.

An Amazon spokesperson also told 10 On Your Side that on-site security has increased temporarily as a safety precaution from the incident.

Some morning shifts were cancelled as a result of the shooting, but those employees have been compensated according to an Amazon spokesperson.
