HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — One person was hurt after a shooting on Griffin Street on Saturday, police said.
According to officials, just before midnight on Saturday, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Griffin Street for reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival to the scene, officers located an adult male suffering from several gunshot wounds. After receiving medical attention at the scene, the victim was transferred to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
An initial investigation found that the victim and a female passenger were sitting inside a vehicle when they were approached by the suspect, who then brandished a firearm, shooting the victim multiple times.
Police then said the suspect got control of the vehicle with the female passenger still inside. Shortly afterwards, the woman was released unharmed. The suspect then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.
The incident remains under investigation.
