Hampton VA Healthcare System earns top ratings from Paralyzed Veterans of America

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The Hampton VA Healthcare System received high marks from the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA).

Recently, PVA released the results from its Hampton VAMC’s Spinal Cord Injury and Disease (SCI/D) Service survey. Those results indicate that the Hampton SCI/D Center long-term care unit is one best in the VHA system.

The PVA pointed to several strengths and best practices at the Hampton SCI/D Center, including:

According to the PVA, “Hampton staff’s resolute ‘Can Do’ attitude, coupled with the high morale and professionalism observed at the Center, deserves commendation.”

PVA’s praise of the Hampton VAMC’s Spinal Cord Injury and Disease (SCI/D) Service comes just days after the Office of the Inspector General released a scathing report on its findings of substandard surgical practices at the Hampton VAMC.

The new acting director of the Hampton VAMC is set to take the reins on Aug. 5.
