HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Langley Square II Apartments in Hampton received a $20 million grant as part of a government program designed to help with energy efficiency, a release from Congressman Bobby Scott states.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Green and Resilient Retrofit Program, or GRRP, granted the funds under the Inflation Reduction Act.
The GRRP supports significant energy efficiency and climate resilience renovations in more than 2,200 homes across the nation at properties housing low-income individuals, families and seniors.
“I am excited that the Department of Housing and Urban Development is making this significant investment in more energy efficient and resilient housing in Hampton,” said Congressman Scott. “These funds will help ensure residents at Langley Square have access to more efficient heating and cooling, and help reduce our region’s carbon footprint as we combat the climate crisis.”
